ROH Assault Now Available in 8x170 to suit Ford Ranger Super Duty
ROH Wheels has released a new 8x170 Assault fitment engineered specifically for the Ford Ranger Super Duty and F250/F350, built to handle the added weight and towing capability of Ford's heavy-duty line-up. With the rally-inspired styling and imitation beadlock lip that made the Assault an Australian 4x4 favourite, this new version brings the iconic design to larger 8-stud Ford vehicles.
The Rise of American Trucks
The Ford Ranger Super Duty is rated to a 4500kg GVM and 8000kg GCM and runs an 8x170 stud pattern carried over from Ford's full-size American trucks.
“Ford took hubs from the American F250 Super Duty and F350 Super Duty and built a new high-GVM Ranger Super Duty around them. That’s a serious platform which needed a serious wheel and hub combination,” said Mark Reina, Head of Product Development at ROH Wheels.
Demand for heavy-duty wheel fitments is growing in Australia as full-size American pickups become more popular.
“Big American trucks are gaining popularity here like the Tundra, the RAM, the Silverado. That means bigger PCDs and higher load ratings are becoming more common,” said Mark.
Specialised Testing and Engineering
Developing the ROH Assault for the Ford Ranger Super Duty’s 8x170 hubs required purpose-built testing equipment and specially engineered wheel nuts, ensuring every detail meets the high quality standards ROH Wheels is known for.
“Our existing test equipment couldn’t accommodate it, so we had to build new test plates. No one sees the test plates or wheel nuts, but they’re a big part of what makes a wheel you can trust,” said Mark.
“The wheel nuts needed to handle torque loads of 200Nm, so we engineered those specifically for the application. Then came the biggest challenge: achieving a 1750kg load rating with a die-cast wheel.”
Sizes and Finishes
The ROH Assault for the Ford Ranger Super Duty and F250/F350 is available exclusively in an 18x9 size, with two offset options: +40 for a flush fitment with the factory guards, or +20 for a wider, more aggressive stance or to suit wider aftermarket flares.
The Super Duty Assault is available in two finishes to suit both work and touring builds: Matte Black or Graphite Centre Black Lip.
